MiiR presented me with the challenge of making a versatile set of curated iconography and type treatments for their custom engraved products. The objective to bring in fresh perspective to the art categories they offer as well as avoid any generic clip art approaches. In this way we achieved a true custom product that customers can enjoy knowing someone made each icon from scratch with care and a concept.
I have designed for several categories to enhance the customer experience. Many of these topics are new to me, so it was a positive opportunity to explore new concepts. A large portion of the designs are based on a line-weight system. There was a lot of optical tuning and creative freedom for certain occasions, especially with typographic treatments. The line weight and filled-in shapes need to be somewhat bold for the engravings to transfer properly to the products. That worked in my favor, as bold designs are my favorite constructions. MiiR is a fantastic partner, and I'm proud of what we made!
